Frequently Asked Questions About the DX-E401.
Why can’t I connect to the Internet when using my DX-E401?
Verify your router is connected to a standard grounded outlet. Check that the Internet cable is connected to the WAN port on your router, and check the WAN light on the front of your router is illuminated. Check that the LAN lights are on. If they are not, ensure the cables are tight and try again.
What should I do if my Internet connection stops working with my DX-E401 router?
Power cycle your router by unplugging the DSL/Cable Modem from the power, then unplug the router and power off your computers. Then, plug in the DSL/Cable Modem to the wall and wait until all the lights are on and none of them are blinking. Power on the DX-E401 router and wait until all the lights are on. Now, power on one computer and verify the Internet connection.
Why do I have to occasionally reset my DX-E401 when I leave it connected without using it?
Some Internet Service Providers set a maximum idle time. If there is no information sent or received through your ISP within this time frame, you may be required to reset your router.
How do I know my router is working properly?
You can verify your router is working properly by sending an echo request to it and verifying the response you get.
If you are a Windows user go to Start, select the Run option and in the dialog box type in CMD. Once there, type in ping 192.168.0.1 and you should get 0% loss as a response. If you don’t please call our technical support line for further assistance.
Why can’t I access the configuration utility from my DX-E401 router?
If you were previously a DSL user, your browser may be configured to dial an Internet connection. If you use Internet Explorer, you can verify this setting by selecting the Internet Options within the tools menu. On the connections tab, select the option “never dial a connection”.
My DX-E401 router is working fine, but I receive a “Page Could not be displayed” error when accessing certain web pages.
This is most likely due to a mismatch in a value called MTU. Access your router’s configuration utility by typing 192.168.0.1 in the address bar on your Internet browser. Enter Admin for the username and leave the Password field blank. Then go to the WAN option on the Home Tab and select on the lower part the MTU value. This is usually set to 1500, but you may try 1482, 1480, and 1400 as necessary.
